Manufacturer Description During the first half of the twentieth centruy, a small & dedicated number of craftsmen & women worked to vitalize the art of fly tying in America. Folks like John Harrington Keane, Mary Orvis Marbury, & Herb Welch we soon joined by others, including Carrie Frost, Theodore Gordon, Lewis Rhead Carrie Stevens, Charles DeFeo, Preston Jennings, & Ray Bergman. All, for the most part, worked quietly at their bench, creating, revitalizing, & teaching & sharing concepts with others. They were successful far beyond normal expectations & enjoyed ever-widening reputations & influence. Unfortunately what happened next is a phenomenon that transpires all too frequently in history: their work simply went out of fashion. There were thousands of early amateur tiers who were never acknowledged for their contributions to American fly tying. This book is dedicated to these undiscovered & forgotten flies. We have selected 5 individuals to represent these untold crafstmen: Charles DeFeo, Preston Jennings, Mary Orvis Marbury, Ray Bergman, & Carrie Stevens. Features 2000+ fly patterns, id guide for over 750 pictured streamers & their instructions. Color photos; 11x14 inches, 560 pgs.

Pros
This is THE book to have if you are interested in classic Wet flies and Streamers. Lots of background information and historical context. Probably the best of all is the photography. Thousands of high definition photos of the flies.
Cons It weighs a ton. Seriously, this is by far, the heaviest book I've ever seen.
