Pros
Pretty darned good book especially for beginners. I had been tying for several years when I bought it and I still learned some things. Nice pictures.

Pros
My first book was the Orvis Fly Tyers Guide. Initially, I thought it was an excellent book until I realized that it has more pattern photos than actual step-by-steps. After a little while, I ended up purchasing this one, mainly due to the fact that it has multiple photo instructions and recipe's for each fly.

Needless to say, I am very impressed with this book. It's great for the beginner and probably for those who have been tying for a while.

Superb photo quality and great step by steps for somebody who can't just look at something and figure out how to tie it.

Cons
It only has 50 flies.
There is no "Fly Tying for Beginners Volume 2"
There is no "Fly Tying for Beginners Volume 3"
There is no "Fly Tying for Beginners Volume 4"

Pros
Excellent book! Easily written for anyone to understand. Covers basic steps in perfect photo & written detail to tying 95% of all flies. Then proceeds to show one how to use same steps to tie 50 common flies. And being coilbound it easily stays open to page you're on which is always a huge plus in any book IMO.

Cons
Not advertised enough, great staple for any beginner.
