Pros
i will not even say a good vise for the money. To me that degrades it. This is a great vise, period!!!! Of course i have the upgraded stuff, brass instead of plastic, makes for a good looking peice of tying equipment. The 6 lb base is fantastic for keeping me in one place.
Cons I had a bit of a problem with the jaw slipping. I emailed the owner of peak and he took care of me fast!!!

This vise is an excellent value for the money and perhaps the best rotary vise in the $100 - $150 class. It is well built to close tolerances. In fact my model, which has the removable pedestal version, is so closely machined that suction is a problem in removing the vise from the base after you insert it in the brass pedestal (a little WD40 helps a lot). The vise has held hooks from 18 to 2/0 for me with no problem. The base is stable and the layout of the vise allows spinning hair and other high tension moves without the vise moving while you try to work. I can recommend this vise as a first rotary and first vise upgrade without any hesitation.
Cons The vise needs a set screw wrench to be put together and is so closely machined disassembly can be a little difficult (I recommend a little WD40 on the vise shaft if you have the brass pedestal attachment). Also the head cannot be easily adjusted to bring small hooks into the rotary axis. Hooks size 12 or below will commonly rotate around the axis and no on it. This, however, has proved to be a very minor problem and not having to mess with this adjustment makes the vise very easy to use. I have also noted that I have to readjust the jaws for any change in hook size to insure the best hold. I personally think that this is because the vise is much better machined than my old one and requires me to be more precise.

Pros
This being my first real vise it has proven to be exceptionaly well designed and built. For the money one can't go wrong. The standard jaws tie hooks down to 26 easily, but I bought the midge jaws and tying 30's is no problem. The pedestal base has a nice finish, and the white color makes it easy to see small hooks and beads. The rotary and clamp adjustments are easily tuned to meet the tiers needs of various resistance and hook sizes. I am very pleased with the vise and highly recommend it.

Wow. Hands down the best vise I have owned or tried. Holds any hook I have tried absolutely rock steady. Smooth rotation. Nicely finished. I tie size #8 to #22 and in that range I don't even have to adjust the cam. I also like the positive stop when clamping a hook. I've tried vises that cost 2-3 times as much and don't like them as well.
Cons I didn't care for the plastic adjustment screws. But I bought the brass upgrade screws for a few bucks so this is not really a negative. I also bought the D-arm/handle extension and that makes the rotary function even better in my opinion.

Pros
Excellent jaw strength. Might be the best machined vise made!! Customer support is the best in the industry! the price is 50 dollars on the low end but I'm not complaining!
Cons jaw adjustment is made with coarse (big not fine)threads So a small adjustment in the jaws is a very small adjustment in the nut. This took me a few flies to get use to. other wise I love it!!!

In my opinion, for the money there isn't a better vise on the market!
I bought one of the early Peak's just after they began selling them.
I've tied a lot of flies on it and never had a hook slip.I've used it for tying flies from #14's up through 2/0 saltwater patterns and haven't had any problems.
The base is one of the best that I've seen as far as size to weight ratio.
Cons The early vises came with nylon tension screws instead of brass. I've never had a problem with this, but I understand some people do.

Pros
Sturdy, stable base, good price
Cons Hook holding power - poor, jaw change is cumbersome - c clips and lining up holes. Also, hook size adjustment is very coarse.
