Pros
when i purchased this vise in about 1989 it was top of the line and is still all the vise i will ever need. the thing is put together like a fine watch and in general it's pretty easy to use. there is a learning curve but it does the job well. at the time of purcase it was the only true rotary out there and that feature is still its best point. i never use anything but the pedestal base and it the plenty heavy to hold up under even the most heavy handed tier.
Cons i dislike the cheesy rubber "o" ring that holds head of the vise together. however, it works and i've never had a problem with it. nevertheless, it isn't pretty or aesthetic. i also detest the central screw that controls hook size. it constantly loosens and must be readjusted. the manufacturer will replace the screw at no charge but, in my experience, it soon loosens up again. presumably the new cam operated head is less irritating but i cannot justify the expense.

Pros
The true rotary feature on this vise is excellent, and the adjustment feature at the end of the barrel for the rotary allows you to ratchet the head or spin it smoothly. The ratcheting can be extremely useful when applying head cement and laquer, and with the jaws being very easy to adjust, there is no limit to what you can hold. Hook grip is firm but not crushing, and the tapered jaw point allows you to get size 20s in without any trouble. The material holder is better than the Renzetti Master holder in my opinion, if it's going to be a Renzetti, get this one.
Cons The only complaint I have is in the adjustment required for rotary when changing between really large or really small hooks. I typically tie on 2/0 to 6/0 for salmon flies, and 20-14 for trout flies. If you plan on using the rotary for both these sizes, you may need to slide the jaws to get the shank aligned with the barrel. This requires a screwdriver, which can be problematic while tying. I have not had the loosening issue that Jack has, but my vise is only two years old.
