Renzetti Master Vise

Average Rating: 9.5

Retail Price: 479.95

Manufacturer Description
The Master Vise is so named because it does it all. Featuring a jaw mechanism that will securely hold hooks from a 28 to a 10/0, this is the vise for the tier who turns out everything from tiny trout flies to feather duster size billfish offerings. If you are a production tier or a serious saltwater buff, this is the vise to own. The Master has the traditional rotary actuator that allows the tier to rotate the jaws by spinning the rotary arm. Without question, the Master is the most advanced and most versatile vise available today. Two styles of bases from which to choose.

Pros
I have owned this vise since 1994, absolutely top performance. Not a single complaint on the design and function of this versatile tool. The jaws hold firmly without movement from the smallest trout hook to large saltwater sizes. The parallel jaws adjustment is fast and clamps with easy effort.

Many accessories are available for special functions, more than any other vise made today. I like the spinning attachment and lock out the rotary actuator to make the arm fixed relative to the jaws.

Cons
Retail price is high for the average fly fisherman.

Pros
This vise does it all. No problems holding the smallest midge hook up to very large salmon fly and stainless saltwater hooks without slipping.

Cons
The anodized finish on the top horizontal surfaces all corroded to bare metal within two years of purchase, and really looks terrible. These are probably components that would be better made of stainless steel.

Also for the kind of money they ask for this vise, they should include both the c-clamp, the pedestal and the soft case.
