Pros
Typical of all Dyna-King vises the Side-winder has hook holding power to spare. It is beautifully designed and built. The fit and finish is the best in the industry and the components are well designed and thought out. The double materials holders are a real plus for tying flies with lots of materials such as classic salmon flies and fancy Spey and Dee flies. The wheel/crank is especially well thought out, allowing one to turn the vise jaws with the palm of the off hand or rotate by grasping the handle. The palm rotation feature is very helpful when winding hackle or ribbing for example.

Cons
The jaw alignment mechanism is bulky and takes getting used to when using the off hand in tying the fly. It also makes working at the back of small flies a bit more difficult.
